The walk is a week away!  And so many have made our efforts fruitful!!  Thank you!! 

Carl and I are to be honored as Sunflower Ambassadors at the walk! The ceremony is at 9:45 on Sunday, October 5th. We hope you can join us! 

The disease keeps progressing for Carl...he is doing three feeds a day now, so eating very little by mouth. His breathing is a bit difficult. He's in a wheelchair now. I'm having to assist him more with daily tasks. Yet his spirits are still generally good. 

We so appreciate those who have donated and those walking. It is a blessing! Go Team Mahnke! 

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.

That?s why we are walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: ?You Have ALS? again.
